Doing the Most: Skincare Edition
Even though I am not...by all means...a dermatologist or an esthetician. I do pride myself on learning and studying skin. Especially when it comes to my stubborn, sensitive but not sensitive, acne prone, dark spot prone, thirsty yet oily skin.
From all the research I have conducted on YouTube from other 'skincare experts' and the several trials and errors I have been through. I can finally say that I am comfortable with my skin enough to not have the need to wear makeup...I said need not want...and to be happy with the state my skin.
I have been so good at this skincare stuff that even my friends are messaging me, so they can get this expertise. Now, my skin is not perfect, but she's content with the results and the potential of where it can go.
Now that I'm off my soap-op...lets talk about the products that made my skin bounce back and do a 180.
Let me begin with The Ordinary skin serum. This serum...honestly...truly...whole-heartedly have changed my skin. As expressed previously, I struggle with hyperpigmentation. Meaning that I have and can easily get dark spots on my face. And, one thing about hyperpigmentation, is that it takes forever...and a day...to "fade". So, once they are there, they're there.
This serum helps with dark spots by having a high, yet low dosage of alpha arbutin to help speed up the process of fading. I emphasize "high, yet low" because this ingredient, when used in very high concentrated dosages, can actually lighten your skin drastically. You'll see this ingredient in skin bleaching products, along with mercury, at an extremely high amount. Not saying this is a bad ingredient, just saying to use it in moderation...just like everything else you use and eat.
Now, since The Ordinary serum has an intense ingredient...I only use it sparingly and on certain dark spots...like you would with an acne treatment on blemishes. But, the other serum...the actual bomb.com.
The ginger and vitamin c serum shot is honestly one of the best products I have...on a whim...no research...impulse buy...generously used on my skin. Normally, I do extensive research and read ALL the comments about a product before I buy it, but when I walked past this product in Target...*thrown in cart*.
I've always wanted a simple vitamin c serum...that didn't break the bank...because it brightens and gives your skin a beautiful glow. Which is exactly what this product does...in a decent amount of time...and it's only $20. Bought. Repurchased. Overstocked.
